A Capability Scotland School

Lewis

Awards • IT • Sharing His Voice

Lewis has a split placement between Corseford School and a local school. Both schools work in partnership to meet his educational needs, this is then complemented within Corseford by the support of our onsite Allied Health professionals.

Lewis’ flair for IT was noticed at a lunchtime club. His ability and enjoyment of developing digital presentations and actively researching topics of interest were then further developed across all areas of his learning. Lewis often creates and facilitates power points for school events.

Over the years at Corseford, Lewis has developed his confidence and resilience through a variety of roles. Recently he has been awarded Bronze in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and become a Young Leader, coaching sports.

Lewis thrives when having a lead role. He has also achieved a variety of National Awards, led by his interests.

The input of our physiotherapists has benefitted Lewis throughout his schooling but never more than following on from his different surgeries. His return to education was quickened through intense therapy sessions getting him back to a good level of fitness, ready to learn.

Lewis has developed his independence within our pool. Hydrotherapy allows Lewis to move more freely and get stronger each session.

This alleviates any sedentary behaviours and provides higher positive challenges for Lewis to overcome.

The holistic approach within Corseford creates many opportunities for Lewis to feel pride in his achievements and an increased feeling of self-worth. Lewis’ family have told us that not only would Lewis be lost without Corseford, so would they!
